CAKE FOR BREAKFAST TYPEFACE

'Cake For Breakfast' is all about celebrating the small things, treating
yourself and irony. Creating a typeface? Piece of cake. (Not really).

Completely hand drawn, in a casual caps brush style and designed with
the intention to be used as a display face. For my first attempt at a
typeface I looked to myself for inspiration. What would I want to use?

I certainly love the idea of having cake for breakfast without a second
thought - I hope this inspires you to indulge too.

'Cake For Breakfast' was created during my time studying at
Old School New School. More on my experience at the school is
below - just keep scrolling!

OLD SCHOOL NEW SCHOOL

Throughout April and May of 2016 I attended Abbotsford's Old School New School to complete the intensive 'Type as Design & Culture' Program. This brilliant short course gave huge insight into the history of Typography, techniques in Calligraphy, Brush Script, Blackletter, Sign-writing, Custom Hand-drawn Lettering and digital skills in Vectoring and Type Design. With a range of challenging briefs I was able to push myself to create confident, sound typographic work like never before.

The final brief — design and custom hand letter our certificate of completion for the course. I chose a cake-stand that makes cheeky reference to my 'Cake For Breakfast' typeface.
